One thing about corporate cube life is that you get to know more about your cohabiters than you could ever possibly dreamed of. Here is just one example, for the better part of year, I’ve heard my cube cohabiter conference call in his Kung-Fu buddies, discussing issues like new group name, logos, suitable garb, and the importance of proper balance while sword fighting.

Nor as I'm judging or complaining, as I have some pretty geeky pursuits as well. However, if you overheard one of my geekier conservations mid-stream, you thankfully wouldn’t mistake it for me being involved in Cosplay or larping. Again, I’m not judging here, but the humorous aspects of this are not lost as well.

So I come across this fantastic ‘webtoon’ that is absolutely hysterical, and think my cube mate would find this funny too. It’s an animated version of “Ask a Ninja,” and the Ninja is going off on the Matrix movies and its directors, the Wachowski Bros. The Ninja is spouting some serious funny shit about how weak the Brothers W understanding of actual Ninja technique is, and using some ridiculous hyper-exaggerated facts about Ninjas, like that they move at 84,000 frames per second as opposed to the human eye seeing at only about 72 fps.

To my surprise, the co-worker sits through the entire thing stoned face, as I’m laughed out loud all over again. At the end, I can’t help but ask what he thought…secretly guessing my co-worker’s reply will be some variation of “that was childish,” or even worse, “meh.” Instead I get, “that was ridiculous, Ninja’s don’t move at 84,000 fps, they move at more like 150 fps. Still faster than the human eye though. This animator clearly knows nothing about Ninjas.”

After a year, I still have a lot to learn about my cube mate.
